For those of you looking to customize the font size and DPI (so you can run your apps in Phone or Tablet mode), try out the all-new Paranoid Android Jelly Bean ROM.

The Paranoid Android Jelly Bean ROM is basically a highly-customizable ROM based off CM10 so you get all the features of CM10 plus Paranoid settings that allow you to maximize the potential of your Galaxy Nexus.  Many of users have fall in love with this ROM and that is why we are featuring again as ROM of the Week (and also since JB versions are out now, last time we looked at ICS versions).

Certainly, this is one of the best ROMs for your Galaxy Nexus and has a lot of applications. For example, if your dad is far-sighted and cannot see small letters, you can install the Paranoid Android ROM to make fonts on all the apps larger or specify just few apps to have phone mode instead of tablet mode.  The customization is endless in that sense and I do see for some of you this ROM may be what you have been looking for all along that’s not offered through stock Galaxy Nexus Jelly Bean.

So, go ahead, if this is something along the lines of what you are looking for or want to just experience your Galaxy Nexus in full tablet mode, take a test drive and let me know what you think of being “paranoid” on Android.

I downloaded the toroplus edition and it is running on ICS! Also, my data was not functioning. I do not recommend this rom for people with a sprint gnex.

Sound like to didn’t perform the 3 steps before you install a new rom. Wipe data/cache, factory reset and wipe davlik cache. When you clean install JB 4.1.1, there is no ICS anywhere. Am I missing something here?

  2. Roshmi says:

Could u post a jelly bean working rom in inverted themes ? ie the messaging and contact in black instead of the usual white background?

  3. Brian says:

Won’t boot up on my Sprint Gnex. I checked MD5 and tried twice, downloading it fresh each time from my phone, restoring my previous nandroid backup in between. I didn’t want to a do a factory reset either. If it’s ICS, like suggested above, maybe that’s why.

Not sure who you’re replying to, but it sounds like you’re replying to me. Is this ROM that much “different” from a regular JB rom? I understood that if going between roms on the same version (4.1.1) you weren’t required to factory reset (although it would generally be better practice to do it if you could). When going between different major versions of android, I understood you couldn’t get away without a factory reset. I did both cache wiping after installing the rom.

  5. Aloysius says:

Nice ROM. In Settings, the themes and Paranoid Settings causes the Settings to crash when selected. Otherwise works fine.

  6. Nick says:

We’ve made a drinking game outta this video. Every time you say “UM…” we drink. I’m pretty hammered at this point…. but I have a good rom on my Gnex. Thank you for your videos 🙂 Great info

  7. David says:

I downloaded the sprint version and i too see that it is 4.0.4 ICS and upon first run the home button has no effect. Any ideas

  8. jerome gonzales says:

max thanks for this works fine on gsmverion. haha only problem i see so far is i cant turn off data like 3g. its a bug. wifi bluetooth and nfc works fine.

  9. Aliasgar Murtaza says:

Does gsm mean the international version?

  10. Gregory Dean says:

After running the Paranoid JB ROM for my Gnex (Verizon) for a week, I lost the ability to use my texting feature. I was getting instant crashes every time I opened it, so I have switched to the Liquid Smooth JB ROM, and it’s great and has all the same features.

  11. Andrew says:

    Hey Max,

This is not related to galaxy nexus, but do you know if you get a phone in Korea, it uses GSM?
I am considering of getting a galaxy note 2 from Korea if the one they will release in Canada is going to have duo core instead of quad. If i get the phone from Korea, can i just use it here? Or do i have to unlock it and re-program the frequency band?
Sorry for asking an unrelated question.

    • Max Lee says:

Don’t get a Korean phone, they are usually locked to Korean carriers, it may work in Canada but still I don’t recommend that route as there’s much less for Korean branded phones. Get international version.

      • Andrew says:

Galaxy S3 in Canada had duo core instead of quad core like Korea.
I’m hoping Galaxy Note 2 is going to have quad core in Canada, because then i can just get the phone here instead of having to worry about getting the phone elsewhere.
        Thanks for the help Max!

  12. Peter B says:

Hoping for a video review on the 4.2 based Paranoid Android ROM. Until then this version even though its older is a keeper.
