Thank you for all your Reviews for the Nexus S!
I’ve been following your nexusS hacks site for a while.

I’m not sure if you take requests, but would you be able to do a video about switching from yakjuux to yakju or any other stock versions.

I’m a little confused about the process and you’re videos are very accessible.

    Thank you

Hi there. I don’t even have my Galaxy Nexus yet, but you helped me to convince I ‘need’ one. haha. I ordered one over the weekend and trying to wait patiently.

Anyway, I have a general question and I have a feeling I can get a practical answer from you, since you started to mention something like this in one of your videos…

Have you ever connected a digital camera to an android phone before? It will basically be like an external memory/drive. Basically my question is stemming from if I can send my digital camera photos from my cell phone.

Have you heard anything like that or tried anything similar? You mentioned in your video you have connected external memory through the microUSB ports. If so, is it a specific kernel update/modification or have you seen this in a ROM before?

Great site. Thanks for the easy directions on how to install ROMs and such. I wanted to let you know that for the AOKP CDMA ROM, the link that you’ve provided it for the Kernel. And the link for the Kernel is for the Kernel. So you have two links going to the Kernel page but no link going to the AOKP CDMA download page. Where can I download the CDMA AOKP ROM?

Also do you have a tutorial on how to install the kernel?

    Hey Max,

Great Website. It was easy to understand and root my Galaxy Nexus.

After I rooted my Galaxy Nexus, I got an Android 4.0.4 update (708 Kilobytes in size) when using my phone. I accepted the update. When the phone reset, a small android images with it stomach open and a triangle warning sign with ! was on it.

My question is: What do I need to to do with the android rom to accept the Android Ice Cream Sandwich updates?

Love the site been using it daily for a while now. I live in canada and currently run the GSM galaxy nexus on TELUS. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction to upgrade my radio ? I find 9 out of 10 roms keep putting my phone on the “call forwarding” as i loose signal for no reason. Everything works great i’m loving the new milestone but still seem to get crap reception. Thanks in advance

    Awesome tutorials man!

I have tried a ton of roms since I first found your site. I always come back to Liquidsmooth though. The new 1.4 is by far the best IMO. You should toss up a video of it, there’s a ton of new features including a ROM downloader. Keep up the good work!!!

    I’m looking forward to GalaxyS3root.com……. 🙂

Please add my email to your list.

I have had the Verizon GNex for two weeks now. Currently running a mostly-stock 4.0.4. Soon I will decide which rom to install next. I am considering Paranoid vs. AOKP vs some CM9 variant.

I am temped by the hybrid nature of Paranoid, but notice your point-scores for AOKP and Apex are higher.

Thanks for the website, I find the information exceedingly useful.

I need to recover some delete photo becouse of a wrong syncronization of Google+.
Photo are in the internal SD but I can’t use Recuva or other sw because the phone is not like an external device.
I saw “Undelete for Root Users” but my question is:
without root the phone, can I show the phone to my computer as an external SD memory to use Recuva?

    Hi Max,

I’m new to your web site, but I will soon follow your tips to upgrade my Baseband to XXKL1 (since I’m in Europe).

Before doing so I wanted to ask:

if I also want to update my system ROM to the APEX (with ICS 4.0.4) will that update override the XXKL1 Baseband ? …If so what’s your reccomandation on how to proceed first?

  14. Pierdamiano says:

    Thanks Max !!
I will try it after doing back up of the entire installation.

Meantime I founnd a great project here in Europe about Nexus which I think you will love to have. The page is in Italian, but just click on the youtube video. You will be impressed by the numbers.

  20. samer says:

    hey max,
really i love this site. i do have some questions: 1) i put a boot_audio.mp3 into system/media after unzipping roms. some roms work fine with the boot sound, others dont work, do i miss something? 2) if i want to let my nexus return to warrenty, must i flash the stock rom that i backed up after rooting before unrooting? (i use wugfresh tool) thx

    • Max Lee says:

I think the rom has to support custom boot sound and yes u have to install stock rom back for warranty.

  21. samer says:

thx Max.1) do i must wipe cache partition & Dalvik cache before flashing new rom? 2) after flashing some roms and restoring applications using mybackuproot ap, some apps dont work it says has stopped, why?

    • Max Lee says:

Do wipe cache after installing rom and also i use titanium backup app not sure on the app u r using.

  24. Delgado says:

Am new to Android (6 mos.) and have a rooted SGH-T989 running Darkside Evolution 3 v7. Just ordered a Galaxy Nexus GSM (T Mobile Monthly 4G plan). Have learned my way around the S2 a bit and flashed maybe 30 roms.

Question: When I get the Nexus is it best to root imediately or wait until after I get the 4.1 update? In other words, once rooted what is the deal regarding OTA future updates? With the SGS2 I just deleted the Device Manager App. Wondering what’s different with this device and in what order I should modify. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

  25. samer says:

i unroot my nexus by installing stock 4.0.4, then i wanted to root it again. i rooted my phone again but it seems that su. is not working. always it deny permission! i do not know why! i follow the steps of rooting one by one. do i miss something? please help

    • Max Lee says:

reflash the superuser zip file (the last step) like 2-3 times more in CWM until it says success. Then you are good to go, cheers!

  26. samer says:

    thx max
i received off. update for jelly beans 4.1.1 and i installed. then i rooted my device. everything goes okay but when i flash cwm(rom manager) i can turn into recovery mode from rom manager only and not from the fast boot mode. it give only android with open stomach! do u know why? help please

    • Max Lee says:

Try flashing CWM from ROM Manager and boot right into it after flashing, you might have to flash everytime you enter CWM, this is probably because 4.1.1 is overwriting the custom recovery on reboot. There’s a fix somewhere I am trying my best to find it and will post it soon bud.

  27. samer says:

That is exactly what i m doin. Wish to post the fix soon. Thx max

  28. samer says:

    hey Max
i found the solution ! every OTA update places two files on device system (that are not there on a non-update stock ROM) that re-flash the stock recovery on EVERY boot. The two files are /system/recovery-from-boot.p and /system/etc/install-recovery.sh. i need to make sure that these files are either deleted or renamed, or else CWM will disappear when i reboot. These files serve no purpose other than re-flashing the stock recovery on every boot. So, if i have got an OTA and applied it, my CWM is gone…by using something like Root Explorer, delete them, and re-flash my CWM recovery.

  29. samer says:

    hey Max,
Where did you flash the stock 4.1.1 from and not the rooted one?

  30. samer says:

or i must flash stock 4.0.4 and wait for ota update?

  31. Apostolos says:

Hey Max, great site, I’ve been following you the last 2 years since I had a Nexus S. I sold it and now I have a rooted Galaxy Nexus. Wish you all the best.

My problem is I accidentally deleted all my photos that were in a folder from my last holiday and I didn’t find any program to help me recover those photos. I’m on jelly bean and for some reason also I cannot mount usb from cwm. Do you know anything that might help?

    Thanks in advance,

  32. samer says:

    hey Max,
wish that u post how to unroot nexus to stock 4.1.1

  33. samer says:

    thx Max, waiting

  34. samer says:

    hello Max,
can i install stock 4.1.1 on my nexus 4.0.4 stock rom without rooting or unlock bootloader?

  35. samer says:

    Hey Max‚
When i downloaded the yakju image 4.1.2 from google‚ it gave me only 1 folder.tar after unzipping. Is that mean to flash it via odin and not bootloader?

  36. Alfred says:

Hey Max, I just downloaded 4.2 stock ROM GSM on my Galaxy Nexus. After installing it, it keeps rebooting again and again. I would see the the start screen for 2 seconds and it would restart.

  37. David says:

    Hey Max.
First of, I just want to say you have the best guides and tips out there for rooted androids. So thank you very much for that!
I recently rooted my Galaxy Nexus 4.1.1 and now I’m trying to install the clockwork. It works the first time and it puts me in recovery mode; however, after that, everytime i try to go back to recovery mode, the green robot is on its back with a red exclamation mark over its stomach.
I was wondering if this was the result of me making a mistake during the rooting process or if it has to do with because I didn’t install a custom rom.
If it’s the custom rom problem, could you please explain how to download that? and if it’s a rooting problem, do I need to restart the whole process?
    Thank you!
