Android 4.3 was officially released this morning for Galaxy Nexus and for those of you rooted, you can easily get it using the Android 4.3 ROM.  This is a totally untouched, official ROM just in CWM-flashable format (for GSM version).  Also you can easily root it by flashing SuperSU zip file after installing ROM.

I know many of you want to upgrade to the latest Android 4.3.  This will make your life easier as you won’t lose root and no need to unroot either.

Currently, this is only available for GSM or Verizon Galaxy Nexus but Sprint version should be available shortly, I will update this page when that is available.

  2. Ahmad says:

Thank you Max. Can’t wait to get home and try it out

  3. Ameer says:

If the Gapps are the same as 4.2.2 do I still need to download this one?

    • Ameer says:

Still downloaded for just in case. But when I finished installing what I needed, I pressed Reboot but it asked if I wanted to do something, without seeing what it was I accidentally pressed no (almost dropped my phone) not knowing what it was. Can someone tell me what it was? (After I pressed no, it started to boot)

  4. Warman says:

Did get an exchange service error when it first booted up after install, but so far so good.

  5. Max says:

Mine seems stuck on the splash screen “android”. I tried a battery pull and it seems stuck again. When I did the load of the ROM, I did get a warning about a file having no contents…..hmmm

  6. deb says:

Currently running latest version of cynogenmod 10.1.2, kinda loving it and even liked Xenon HD. Installed 4.3.0 JB but may be stock android isn’t that fun, can’t say about the battery life and all. Almost had no features of customization and nothing seemed to be added on in this 4.3 in comparison to 4.2.2. So, reverted back to cynogenmod 10.1.2 running 4.2.2. Even though still new to all this, gradually i am learning to flash change roms didn’t face any issue till now. Well, I had a serious query regarding my back up of the stock android which I made following all your guided tutorials, kudos to you max for taking such an initiative of posting all videos with well guided steps, I owe you lot for letting me get in this world of root n everything. Getting to point, I was using the clockworkmod 5.5.0.2 recovery and made a back up using that and installed the Xenon HD rom following your guided tutorial. So far good, everything worked perfect. Just next day, i updated the clockworkmod recovery to latest 6.0.3.4 maguro and didn’t back up/restore as i could find the backup file in place in clockworkmod in tact. Its after this update I no more was able to access the restore file from recovery mode and even the power button shortcut didn’t show the recovery option. Please put some insight to the matter. Should I revert back to the old version of clockworkmod or i should install this stock 4.3.0 rom and make a backup file. This is plain stock rom right?

DO LOOK IT THIS. THANKS IN ADVANCE

  7. chad says:

I get the “Unfortunately, Exchange Services has stopped.”
I can’t seem to configure the stock Email app to connect to exchange.

I installed Touchdown (paid version) and it is working fine. So there would appear to be a problem with the Exchange service.

    Thanks!

  8. Len Kiat Leong says:

Thank you Max. I’m now enjoying 4.3. The installation is a breeze.

  9. Adam says:

I just download this rom and everything seemed to be working fine, but my GPS isnt working at all is anyone else having this problem?

  10. Adam says:

I tried installing the zip through Clockworkmod but it says that the file can’t be open. Any advice?

  11. rohan says:

if i want to do a fresh start, as in wipe my sd card too, what would be the right procedure ?

can it be this, or is there a better safer way ?
    1. Wipe cache and dalvik cache
    2. Wipe data/factory reset
    3. Format system
    4. Flash rom
    5. Format SD
    6. Reboot

    • Max Lee says:

Everything right except you dont need to format sd.

      • rohan says:

hey max i want to clean my sd card, like a total fresh start like a brand new device, i have no idea what all is left behind from all the flashing ive been doing ..

so is the right way or should i flash a factory image via adb ?

  12. Tyler says:

I have standard 4.2.2 with no root. How do I install the new 4.3? Is it worth it?

  13. Effendi says:

I have seriously problem on my device when downgrade from 4.3 to custom rom 4.2.2 using TWRP 2.5.0.0 recovery and my device get boot loop. Do you have any suggest to me how to recover my device back to normal?
Thank you for your advice and kind attention

  14. Daniel says:

    what about the radio/baseband updates?

  15. Mike says:

I’m still not sure how to do this, sounds straightforward enough though.
Do I need to transfer the maguro zip file through usb cable while my phone is normally on? To which folder?
I am rooted, and have the option to install zip from sdcard (using GN of course).
Just a few more notes on how to do this would be great, thanks.

  16. Raman says:

I’m on JB 4.2.2 stock + root right now. So, can I just download this rom and flash it ?

  17. Brandon says:

Hey Max – Thanks for the ROM! I have a Verizon GNex and I had a stock 4.2.2 ROM on my phone. I did the data wipe/factory reset before installing the ROM, SuperUser and Gapps…am I going to be ok?

  18. Brandon says:

Is anyone else having an issue with the GPS connection on this ROM? The Maps App has an issue finding my location.

  19. leose says:
