Apex ROM for Rooted Galaxy Nexus! [GSM/CDMA] [Great Battery Life][OC]

If you want great battery life, customizations, and also stable overclocking to 1.35Ghz, you might just want to give the Apex ROM a try, which I have been using for couple days now and simply love it.

First, battery life is great on the Apex ROM, you can expect full 2-3 days.

Second, there’s lots of customizations you can do with Apex Customizations option in Settings.

Third, you can overclock to 1.35Ghz with its native CPU settings without use of an overclocking app like SetCPU.

Overall, everything is built-in and again, I love the battery life I get on this plus the performance.

And lastly, it’s available for both GSM and CDMA versions of Galaxy Nexus so you have nothing to lose.

Try out this ROM and let me know what you think, I think you will be very happy.

    so…is this base on 4.0.4?

  2. alex says:

How long is it supposed to take to load on first boot?

  3. alex says:

How exactly do you get such good battery life? Over been using it one day now and I have only gotten 8 hours of battery life.

  4. John says:

Yeah. I’ve got that same question. What would you recommend doing to get the battery life you’re describing?

  5. Gautam says:

yep the same question. how the ‘improved’ battery life ?

  6. John says:

Last night I flashed GummyNex because I herd that it gets really great battery under heavy usage like I do on a daily basis. I’ll tell you how GummyNex is in comparison to Apex. The GummyNex from is really similar to Apex and it is in both CDMA and GSM

  7. John says:

I would recommend now better than Apex that you try Gummy Nex rom with Franco kernel. I’m getting relly great battery life just stock now. In a couple of days I am going to flash AOKP rom and Franco kernel and see how that goes because AOKP seems really cool.

  8. kale says:

after install, reboot it and always stop in the Google screen….

  9. love this rom. have been using it for a week now, battery lasts almost 2 days.

    • Amanda says:

What settings are you using to get such amazing battery life? Do you consider yourself a heavy, moderate, or minimal user?

  10. Coleman says:

I have a similar problem, stuck on the APEX load up screen. Wiped the cache and still having the same problem.
Any idea why this is happening?

  11. tomas says:

I downloaded this zip on.my nexus. but it didn’t put I in the downloads folder. anyone suggest where it may have somehow gone?

  12. DEECRUZ says:

How do you get 2-3 days???
    HELP Please!!!

    • DeeCruz2 says:

To get 2-3 days means not using your phone the whole DAMN day…. you have to also have all other useless apps killed and make sure your brightness on your screen is on AUTO…. if you start playing 3-d games or browsing videos on 4G LTE all day you will never even get a single day! you might also want to underclock the phone to 1.0 GHZ and you will come closer to your goal of 2-3 days.

  13. VikasNarula says:

can anyone help me to restore old default startup animation on apex rom ?

  14. kss says:

Hey guys. i followed the instructions and successfully installed apex ROM. i noticed that it did not have Google play store installed. i tried installing it from outside sources and it did not work. please help, i have no apps because of that.

  20. Emily says:

Will this work on Sprint CDMA????

  21. Ronaldo says:

2-3 days battery life on this ROM is total BS. This is on the assumption you don’t use the damn phone at all, which of course kills the whole point of having a phone. “Normal” use you can expect about 12 hours max, and by normal I mean browse the web a couple of times throughout the day, make/take a few calls, play some games (noticed Zynga games are awesome battery hogs) and use other apps sparingly that needs data. Above normal use may last you around 8 – 10 hours give or take. We just need to accept that smartphones needs to use lots of battery to be fully utilized. Asking how you can last 2 days on your battery without feature sacrifice is like asking how you can drive a car as far as possible, using as little gas as possible and still revving the crap out of it.

    • Ronaldo says:

Oh btw, my ROM cycle has been Gummy -> MIUI -> AOKP (m4) -> FoxHound -> Gummy -> Apex -> Paranoid -> LiquidSmooth -> Gummy -> AOKP (m5). Of these ROM’s I found AOKP (m5) with Franco Kernel the most stable and battery friendly. On above normal use I’ve managed to last just over 12 hours without charge (not counting stand-by time, pre-franco kernel I observed I lost about 10% battery while the phone slept the same amount of time I did (around 6 hours). After flashing Franco kernel and also downloaded the franco kernel app which gives you even more control, in the 6 hours I slept my phone lost 2% charge which was awesome. Again this was while the phone slept. Observing battery consumption during usage I noticed pretty much same discharge while using usual suspects, which is browsing, Scramble, FB, download a couple of MP3’s etc. Point is, you use power-hungry apps I don’t believe it matters what tweaking or ‘optimizing’ you’ve done. Your battery will run out….Apologies for the blurb 🙂

Very well said. I have the same setup with the same opinion about the battery life.

Great review man. So far I’m in love with this ROM. One question though, Galaxy Nexus settings wasn’t installed. Can you upload an apk?

Take care and keep up the great work
