Your videos are awesome! Im getting a galaxy nexus just so i can modify my phone with your videos. Most tutorials of any rooting, romming, or tweaking are really complicated and sometimes don’t work. Yours on the other hand are very easy and simple. Anyways good job and keep me updated

–Definetly the best for android tweaks

  2. eromrab says:

The link for the CDMA ROM should be http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/GalaxyNexus/CDMAroms/AOKP but it is the same exact link as for the Franco Kernel…

  3. Tom Husband says:

Thanks for this. Are there any instructions as to what needs to be wiped first?

    Tom

  4. TyroneLT says:

Thanks for this and all your other Galaxy Nexus tutorials!! You’ve helped a newbie like me successfully root my device and get AOKP up and running with the Franco kernel!!! Loving it so far and looking forward to more tutorials!!!

  5. Brad M says:

Flashed my gnex with the AOKP 4.0.3 rom and Franco Kernel.
Stable and Awesome …… First time rooter (so to speak). Dubious at first …. bit the bullet and was like “what the heck”.
Glad I did it … the telco morons here in Aus (Telstra) still have us on 4.0.1 and wont release any firmware upgrades.
Thanks for your help and tutorials galaxynexusroot.com Yr work rocks !!!! 🙂

  6. Flood says:

Been a week I migrate from the stock Android to that one.
First, this was too easy to root! I’m coming from a Motorola Milestone where everything is so closed. Here, it was very easy. Also I bought that phone in China, so it was already unlocked.

I’m very satisfied Franco Kernel and AOKP and I have up to now only one issue.
In some application (WhatsApp for example) that call the camera, when I press the Check Mark to approve the picture, nothing happen… only a the beep. But now that I’m talking about it and test it again… it works! So this is a bit weird and I was able to reproduce that problem on another Galaxy Nexus with the same configuration. Ho well!

For the rest, only the Android 4 feature that ask to have a password if we activate the VPN is very annoying.
I don’t know if it’s possible to disable this, but I would like that feature. It’s not like if my VPN was connecting to sensitive servers.

The charge of the battery stay much longer, this is an obvious improvement to the stock version. Only for this, it worth the upgrade.

    Cheers!

I have tried to install the AOKP Rom but I keep getting a error. I have wiped cache and factory data can someone please help

    • Jason says:

What is your error? Is it boot loop? That means are you stuck in the boot up screen.

      • Terrond Y says:

No I can’t even get to that point. When I restart into recovery mode I wiped the cache and wiped data/ factory rest. when I go install from SD card it says failed. I’ve tried a couple of times andi get the same results ….any ideas?? …oh and I’ve successfully installed other roms before

  8. Chris says:

I downloaded and instmalled this rom, but after reboot all I get is the team king logo, going ’round and ’round

  9. Jason says:

I really want to get this up and running, after installing zips, just sits at the team kang bootloader (pink unicorn) screen. Any ideas? I’ve tried reinstalling zips to no avail. Help?

    • Jason says:

This is the CDMA version just fyi

    • Jason says:

So for anyone having this same problem, I had to do 3 things from the clockwork recovery screen->(1)factory data reset, (2)wipe cache partition, (3)wipe dalvik cache (under advanced). Then everything booted fine. Love this ROM so far!!!

  10. Vikas Narula says:

Using this rom from past 1 week, almost every app is working.
the only problem i face so faar, is with big games like GTA , Shadowgun and few more (they all crash in startup)

  11. Terry says:

this ROM is awesome, one problem is that i cannot find the Google Play app as well as Gmail ! Please help!!!

  12. Jason says:

    MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ROM:
So after using this ROM along with the franco kernel, as well as the updated 4.0.4 radios, I have to say I am very impressed. There is a very noticeable difference in performance when doing anything, loading apps, switching screens, browsing the web-it’s awesome! I can’t imagine what it will be like when they integrate this setup to 1.5MHz speed that I heard the processor is designed for. Scores are far improved on every benchmark I have tried, antutu, linpack, quadrant. Customization is far improved–pretty much everything I wished I could realistically do on this phone I can do now. The phone even reorients itself better than before–I was always having trouble with the reorientation. Battery life seems to be improved. Yesterday was my first full day of using this setup and I used my phone probably 70% of my normal usage and I am usually a pretty heavy user. I got 18 h 36 m with 9% battery life left when I finally went to bed. NEEDLESS TO SAY, very impressed. Thanks to everyone who made this possible.

    • Michael says:

I love this ROM. I also put the Beats By Dre on it and it was the best thing i have done to this phone. When connected to my home stereo system, the music is crystal clear. Even better than when my Mac is connected.

My only problem i have found with this ROM is that i use BTunes for my music player. When i have this plugged into my car and i’m using my GPS, my music doesn’t turn down when the navigation speaks. It does in Pandora but not when i’m playing local music. Any suggestions?

Besides that minor complaint, 5 out of 5!

  13. MARK says:

Hey, i love this rom…. but coming from ICS 4.2 stock rom, i flashed this on my phone, then suddenly it asked for a “NETWORK UNLOCK CODE” and i have lost all data and phone connection. help me bro pleaseeeeee

    • rbreban says:

Same thing happen to me a while back. you have to ask your seller for the unnlock code they have since they unlock them before shipping

  14. Alberto says:

Still the best rom I ever tried, it redefined my ICS ecperience that was so ridicolous on stock 4.0.2 rom.
Mark great reviewing job out there btw!

  15. Willie says:

I have a gnex on verizon and would like to be added to your mailing list

  16. Eric says:

Was on aokp since M2, recently started having poor battery life. I tried different kernels – franco, glados, nothing helped. After I flashed stock 4.0.4 the battery life is awesome: 0.5-1%/hour!

  17. Jason says:

Installed aokp m4 and the franco kernal on my sprint gnexus. Everything installed and runs smooth, except I’m unable to activate the phone. Any ideas?

  18. Lokesh Venkateshiah says:

Need Procedure to flash the Franco kernel.

  19. OffSet says:

    Coming from stock here…

Just for being sure (altough I probably try before gettin’ someone’s answer :P). Which is the correct process:

    1.- Flash AOKP Rom
    2.- Flash GAppz
    3.- Flash Franco’s Kernel

Right? Could it be all done in the same time from CWM?

    Thnx mates!

    • Max Lee says:

      Yes exactly.

      • OffSet says:

        Thanks…

Just flashed latest Franco.Kernel and tried Busted! game. Not laggy anymore 😉

Now let’s see the rest of improvements (specially battery life!) during these days…

Do you recommend me flashing the latest nightly one?

  20. yesmaster says:
